YouTube has great built-in analytics tools for your own channels that show you everything from subscriber growth to overall channel performance and more. Unfortunately though, YouTube doesn’t show you any historical data for any channels other than your own.

It is often very important to analyze your competitors’ growth in order to design your own content strategy and sometimes looking at other channels’ growth is just an interesting thing to look at, so follow us on our expert guide to finding the subscriber growth of any channel.

Where to See the Exact Channel Growth of YouTube Channels over Time

When YouTube’s own tools are not enough, third-party tools are there to help, join me as I show you the best tools for this task!

1. Socialblade and Viewstats

The most popular tools for finding recent historical data on YouTube Channels and their subscribers are most definitely Socialblade and Viewstats. These tools let you find the historical subscriber count of any large enough channel dating back to at least 3 years.

Viewstats has more free options and also shows historical data for videos and thumbnails while Socialblade has an excellent API that for a cost allows someone with a bit of tech-savvy to automate getting historical data up to 3 years ago for many channels at once. Both of these options don’t record data from before 2017-2018, for that data you’ll need to use a different tool.

2. Internet Archive and the Wayback Machine

The Internet Archive is a nonprofit digital library that offers free access to a massive collection of digital content, including websites, books, music, and software. The Wayback Machine, a feature of the Internet Archive, allows users to view archived versions of web pages across time, making it useful for tracking historical changes, such as subscriber counts on YouTube channels.

With the Wayback Machine, you can track the subscriber count of almost any channel on YouTube back to the day of its inception, but it requires you to find the correct URL for the channel at the time in its history you are looking for.

3. Hire a YouTube Data Provider like Favoree
